Together for European sovereignty and the use of novel AI technologies
Munich/Heidelberg, February 24, 2023 – The consulting and IT company msg and the German AI company Aleph Alpha established a partnership in January 2023: Together, they want to introduce novel AI technologies in connection with AI language models (large language models) at companies and public authorities and thus open up innovative use of AI. Customers benefit from the close cooperation of the partners in the design and implementation of projects. The common goal is to advance the use of state-of-the-art AI technologies in organizations faster and more successfully.
“Large language models are next generation AI and can act as accelerators for the digital transformation of industrial and administrative processes,” emphasizes Dr. Frank Schlottmann, member of the executive board of msg. “As an integration partner of Aleph Alpha, msg will thus be able to define and offer novel AI use cases for customers in the public and private sectors.”
Completely new scope for added value through AI
We are talking about Aleph Alpha’s large AI language model Luminous. It can process, analyze and even produce a wide range of texts without user-specific training. Luminous is also capable of combining image and text. Various functionalities in the areas of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Natural Language Generation (NLG) are made possible in this way.
Potential use cases are chatbots or digital citizen assistants in public administration. In addition, the expansion of accessibility through textual image explanations or AI-supported systems that provide concrete answers to questions and can thus streamline work processes. With its various AI models, Aleph Alpha offers for the first time a European alternative to OpenAI’s GPT-3 and ChatGPT. What makes this technology special is that it is based on a European understanding of language and culture, respects European data protection and privacy rights, and is also comprehensible and explainable.
Europe's sovereignty in view
“We develop AI technology that can be easily and quickly implemented in numerous added value chains,” says Jonas Andrulis. As CEO of Aleph Alpha GmbH, he is looking forward to the cooperation with one of the leading, German-speaking IT consulting companies: “msg brings both the technology and the consulting and industry expertise to the table. This allows our AI models to be effectively integrated at the customer's site.”
The co-founder also highlights the partners' shared value propositions. Founded in 2019, Aleph Alpha GmbH aims to establish Europe as a decisive player in the field of artificial intelligence and maintain the continent's digital sovereignty. Andrulis is convinced that “AI is breaking new ground. We therefore need to keep a closer eye on the digital sovereignty of Europe and Germany.”
