Monday, 21 June 2021

Munich, 21st June 2021. For the third time in a row, msg achieves sixth place in the Lünendonk ranking of the “Leading IT Consulting and System Integration Companies in Germany”. The ranking lists the 25 largest international and German providers of IT consulting services according to their annual sales figures. It thus provides an overview of the major players in the German market for IT consulting and system integration.

The demand for IT services has not decreased in the corona pandemic year of 2020, but is below the level of the previous year. The companies surveyed in the Lünendonk study recorded average growth of 4.9 percent (down from 10.0 percent in the previous year). 65 percent of the IT service providers were able to increase their sales in 2020, which was achieved by 82 percent of them in 2019.

Digitalization in the public sector is a major driver

Companies sought the support of external IT consultants especially for cloud transformation, cyber security, the setup of e-commerce solutions and also general IT modernization. While the demand for IT services from the two most important sectors “Industry” and “Financial Services” remained almost constant compared to 2019, the IT service providers surveyed significantly increased their business in the retail sector and the public sector. “At msg, we also saw an increase in orders, especially in the public sector,” commented msg’s chairman of the board Dr. Stephan Frohnhoff. “In this area, we achieved sales growth of 30 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year.”

Besides the sales figures generated in Germany, Lünendonk also records the development of the corresponding employee figures. Here, numbers increased by an average of 4.5 percent compared to the previous year. msg is above the average here with a headcount increase of 6.1 percent. “Lünendonk’s results confirm our positive business figures and show that we have made the right strategic decisions,” says Stephan Frohnhoff. “We are proud to have held on to our place within the top 10 in the well-known Lünendonk ranking in these pandemic times.“
